Studio Rental

 Studio Rental

When I’m not shooting in my studio, I rent it to other photographers and to video production teams.

The space is medium-sized (1200+ sf) with north-facing windows and a frosted-glass rollup garage door, plus skylights (which can be covered). Easy first-floor access with direct load-in via garage door, two semi-official parking spaces, and additional plentiful street parking. The shooting area includes a cyclorama and measures 20x44 feet; ceilings are 11+ feet. Plenty of available light, but shooting area can also be nearly blacked out. The floor is gray concrete and generally the cyc is painted white; can be repainted for a fee. Cyc also features roll-down gray and Duvetyne backdrops. Space has heating and AC, plus a large whole-room air purifier.

In addition to the shooting area, the starting rental package includes:

  • basic grip package (4 40-inch C-stands, 4 20-inch C-stands; 4 apple and 4 half apple boxes; sandbags for the stands)

  • spacious client reception area with sofa, chair, full-length mirror, and a full bathroom.

  • kitchenette with sink, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, dishes, glasses, and silverware

  • small sunny outdoor patio with table, chairs, and sun umbrella

RATES / HOURS / PEOPLE: The studio rents for $750 for an 8-hour day, is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and can comfortably accommodate up to 15 people (all negotiable). Payment for the base rental is required up front to reserve: cancel for a full refund up to 7 days before your booking, 50% up to 48 hours beforehand. No refunds for cancellations within 48 hours of start time. Payment for any overtime or rental packages is due before leaving.

RENTING ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT: I have a well-stocked grip and lighting storage area from which you can rent additional lighting and video packages as well as specific equipment a la carte. (List available upon request.) There are also two rental houses — DTC (grip and lighting) and Ranahan (general production equipment) — very close to the studio.

SOUND FOR VIDEO SHOOTS: Video interviews and bands have been recorded here (see below), but the studio is not soundproof and since it’s on the ground level, there can be occasional street noise. If you require super-clean continuous live audio, you may need to be patient.

INSURANCE REQUIRED: I require a $1M Certificate of Insurance to be provided three days before the event date. If you don’t have your own business insurance, let me know: I can work with you to help you purchase inexpensive short-term event insurance.

ONE LAST THING: The studio is fully self-contained and entry is turnkey, but the space is part of the building where I live with my family. Some rooms will be locked for owner access only.
